The opening of the RAI National Symphony Orchestra season on Friday, 19 October at 20.00 will be available to EBU Radio organizations for live streaming on Euroradio2see.

This concert broadcast live from the Toscanini RAI Auditorium in Turin by Rai Cultura on its Rai5 channel will mark the start of James Conlon's third season as Principal Conductor of the Orchestra. The programme features Mozart's Symphony No. 34 in C and Mahler's Symphony No. 1, both relatively early works that anticipate their respective composers' maturity of form and expression, culminating in the great Classical and Romantic symphonies.

Other highlights of the 2018-2019 season will include two choral-symphonic masterpieces conducted by Conlon, Verdi's Requiem and Haydn's The Seasons, as well as returning guest conductors Kirill Petrenko (designated head of the Berlin Philharmonic) and Fabio Luisi, respectively for Beethoven's Third and Seventh Symphonies. New BBC Philharmonic Chief Conductor Omer Meir Wellber will also take a bow for Mozart's incomplete Mass in C minor. Nikolaj Znaider and Martha Argerich are just two of the renowned soloists on the roster.
