The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra is one of the most versatile orchestras in the Netherlands. The orchestra plays symphonic works of composers such as Mahler, Brahms and R. Strauss. The orchestra excels in the style of late romanticism and the early twentieth century and performs symphonic concerts and opera productions at the highest artistic level. The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra|Netherlands Chamber Orchestra has been the principal partner of Dutch National Opera for more than 30 years and is among the world's best opera orchestras. As of the 2021–2022 season, Lorenzo Viotti will be the new chief conductor of the orchestra. The Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra is, along with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, part of Stichting Nederlands Philharmonisch Orkest.

Profile
We are looking for a versatile colleague who ensures excellent performances on national concert stages and at the opera whilst mastering a broad repertory. The co-principal supports the principal of the double bass group at all times. Occasionally the co-principal can be asked to lead the group but most of the time the co-principal will play from the second or third chair. The double bass group has one principal and one co-principal. Through this vacancy we are looking for another co-principal.

You have a professional and flexible work ethic and radiate enthusiasm on stage. As a member of the orchestra, you will also contribute to our educational projects and social activities. All employees should have a talent for harmonious teamwork and possess good communication skills. Foreign colleagues are expected to become proficient in the Dutch language within a short timeframe.

 String players have a permanent position with one of the two orchestras. This vacancy is for a position in the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra. In the interest of the organization, you can occasionally be required to play with the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra.

Selection
The selection consists of two parts. The artistic selection takes place through the audition. Secondly, an interview takes place regarding the candidate’s affinity with the NedPhO|NKO to establish whether knowledge, skills and personality match the demands of the position. Based on this, a recommendation will be made to the management. The selection committee reserves the right to make a pre-selection based on application information.

Date of commencement of employment for the mentioned position will be decided by mutual agreement. The salary is in accordance with the national regulations of Dutch Orchestras, which you can find on www.vvno.nl , the website of the association of Dutch Orchestras.
