Freelance - Double Bass Extra Work (Tutti / Sub-Principal)

WNO is seeking to expand its pool of freelance Double Bass musicians for its opera, symphonic and chamber remit, in Cardiff and on Tour.

Deadline for Applications: Monday 19 June 2023, 17:00

Audition Date: Monday 3 July 2023, location tbc

Application Requirements: Please complete the WNO application form and submit before the deadline.

All applicants will be invited to an audition on Monday 3 July 2023.

Audition Requirements: A piece of their choice (unaccompanied)

Mozart: Magic Flute overture
Puccini: Madama Butterfly
Verdi: La traviata (x 3 excerpts)
Beethoven Symphony No.5 movement III
Verdi Otello Act.4 letter U ( poco piu mosso ) to letter Y

Role Profile
• To play within the WNO Double Bass section for the orchestra’s operatic, symphonic and chamber remit.
• Adhere to WNO’s company policies and relevant health and safety legislation.

Person Specification

Skills, knowledge and experience:
• A high standard of technical instrumental skill, musicality, and performance*
• Experience of playing with professional opera/ballet/symphony orchestras
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Good interpersonal skills
• Good communication skills
