informations

The Robert Schumann Philharmonic is one of Germany's most traditional orchestras. Since the beginning of the 2025/2026 season, Benjamin Reiners has been Principal Conductor of the Robert Schumann Philharmonic and General Music Director of the Chemnitz Theater.
The orchestra regularly attracts international musical luminaries. In recent years, renowned conductors such as Stefan Blunier, Peter Eötvös, Lawrence Foster, Elias Grandy, Michail Jurowski, Axel Kober and Stefan Soltész have been guests in Chemnitz. In addition, the ensemble has performed on stage with top-class soloists such as Frank Dupree, Johannes Moser, Fabian Müller, Christian Schmitt, Martin Stadtfeld, Christian Tetzlaff, Vivi Vassileva and Jan Vogler.
The Robert Schumann Philharmonic is also a sought-after partner beyond the region. Renowned venues such as the Tonhalle Zürich, the Brucknerhaus Linz and the Wiener Musikverein are on the tour schedule, as are major German music metropolises such as the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.
The orchestra's high artistic quality is underpinned by prestigious awards, including the ECHO Klassik and the European Culture Prize.
Please note that the Städtische Theater Chemnitz gGmbH is unfortunately unable to reimburse travel and accommodation costs.
