Brisbane-based luthier Olaf Grawert guides his audience through the very scary repair process of a highly damaged violin. Not only has the bottom section come apart and collapsed, the cracked instrument has also suffered damage from hot weather and bugs.

Grawert studied violin making initially with his father Helge Grawert.  He received a Queen Elizabeth II Scholarship in 1990 to further his training at Geigenbau Machold in Germany. He returned to Australia where he maintains his own violin restoration studio.
