Following a concert performance at the Philharmonie de Paris on Sept. 7, 2022, conductor Yannick Nézet-Séguin received the distinction of Officer of Arts and Letters.

He was given the distinction by Laurent Bayle of the Philharmonie de Paris, following a concert performance with violinist Lisa Batiashvili; that concert followed one on a previous night that the Music Director of the Metropolitan Opera performed alongside soprano Angel Blue. In both instances, Nézet-Séguin led the Philadelphia Orchestra in performance.

The famed Maestro owns major distinctions in Canada where he was made Officer of the Order of Québec in 2015 and Officer of the Order of Montréal in 2017.

Nézet-Séguin’s honor follows on the heels of a similar distinction bestowed upon Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel who was named an Officer to the French Order of Arts and Letters on Sept. 3, 2022 following a performance of “Tosca” at the Paris Opera.
