About Notes for Peace

Notes for Peace was launched in 2018 by the Negaunee Music Institute with artistic leadership from former CSO Judson and Joyce Green Creative Consultant, Yo-Yo Ma. To date, nearly 100 original songs of tribute have been written over 13 projects. The NMI’s primary partner in this work is Purpose Over Pain, a community organization founded in 2007 that supports people impacted by the trauma of gun violence and advocates for peace in the city.
