Program notes

In this 2017 documentary, filmed on the occasion of the maestro's 75th birthday, Sabine Scharnagl takes us deep into the mind of legendary pianist and conductor Daniel Barenboim. This film allows us to follow his daily life as a musician, between his native Buenos Aires, Ramallah, and Berlin. Discover behind-the-scenes footage of major events such as the inauguration of the Pierre Boulez Saal (a project he initiated) and the reopening of the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, his musical home since 1992.

Along the way, meet some of the maestro's faithful companions, including the great Martha Argerich, Zubin Mehta, Waltraud Meier, and legendary film director Wim Wenders, as well as his son Michael Barenboim. In other words, we are traveling through the mind and personality of one of the greatest pianists and conductors of our time.
