The Folkwang Chamber Orchestra Essen is seeking a concertmaster to start on 1 December 2025.
Job description:
Musicians who are interested in the special tasks (approx. 150 performances per season) in an innovative, independent and professional chamber orchestra under the artistic direction of Johannes Klumpp are kindly requested to send their application to us by 5 October 2025.
The Folkwang Chamber Orchestra is a professional chamber orchestra dedicated to promoting young orchestral talent. The maximum of 150 performances per season stipulated in the permanent contract correspond to approximately half a position. Remuneration is based on these conditions.

Compulsory concert:
W. A. Mozart Violin Concerto in A, D or G major (1st movement with cadenza)
Compulsory piece:
J. S. Bach one movement from a solo sonata/partita
Orchestra parts:
will be sent upon invitation.
Expected audition date:
21 October 2025, 9:30 a.m.
Applicants should note that upon signing the contract, they must have a place of residence (a secondary residence is also possible) in Germany, as no separate travel expenses can be paid. |
