The Sophie Westenholz Academy of the Mecklenburgische Staatskapelle will accept new scholarship holders at the beginning of the 2026/27 season. The academy serves to support young, highly qualified musicians from all over the world in their development into members of leading international orchestras. Musicians from the Staatskapelle support the scholarship holders as mentors, prepare the repertoire with them and introduce them to their playing tradition. The academy members participate in rehearsals, concerts and performances of the Staatskapelle and the Staatstheater (up to 16 services per month), present themselves in chamber concerts to the Schwerin audience and receive further support through offers such as audition training and workshops on body techniques, mental training, etc. The scholarship amounts to €1000 per month. The funding period is initially one season, and there may be the possibility of an extension for a maximum of one further season. Maximum age at the start of funding: 27 years Application and travel costs cannot be reimbursed.
