The Beethoven Concours Nederland, organized by the Beethoven Conservatorium Venlo, is a new offer aimed at highly talented musicians. The online competition makes it possible to present one’s own skills to the public and a renown jury and to compare oneself with other young artists from all over the world.
The Beethoven Concours Nederland takes place in two rounds on the basis of video presentations. The juries include lecturers from the Beethoven Conservatorium Venlo and renowned guests.
The videos of all finalists will be documented on our website. The names and rankings of the winners will be announced on our social media channels to draw broad attention to the laureates.

Yuri Bondarev
Biography 

Yuri Bondarev, born in St. Petersburg, switched to the viola after studying violin at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin and was accepted into the class of Prof. Tatjana Masurenko at the Leipzig Academy of Music, where he also took his concert exam. Regular solo and chamber music performances have taken him to Austria, Italy, France, Greece, Sweden, Denmark, Holland and Japan. He has played in various ensembles, including the Vienna Musikverein, the Leipzig Gewandhaus and the Milan Conservatory, the Alte Oper Frankfurt and the Tonhalle Düsseldorf.
He gained his first important orchestral experience with the Leipzig Gewandhaus Orchestra and the Vienna Philharmonic with conductors such as Riccardo Chailly, Kurt Masur, Daniel Harding, Dmitrij Kitajenko, Christopher Hogwood, Herbert Blomstedt and others. Since 2009 he has played as deputy principal violist with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra.
Since 2012 he has been teaching violin, viola and chamber music at the Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Düsseldorf.

Vassili Voronin
Biography 

Vassili Voronin, born in St. Petersburg in 1980, graduated with distinction from the violin class of Prof. Antonina Kazarina at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory there. At the Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, he completed his concert exam with Prof. Ariadne Daskalakis and then worked as an assistant in her class for two years. He studied chamber music and string quartet with Prof. Hatto Beyerle at the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover and then completed his musical education with Prof. Dora Schwarzberg at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna.

Vassili Voronin has won prizes at international competitions. In 2006 he made his debut with his quartet at the Berlin Philharmonie and has since performed in numerous European countries, including the Stockholm Philharmonie and the Palau de la Musica in Valencia. Since 2011 he has been first violinist with the Aachen Symphony Orchestra.

Since 2012 he has been teaching violin and chamber music at the Anton Rubinstein International Music Academy in Düsseldorf.

Sheng Li
Biography 

Secretary of the general Party branch of the orchestral department, Professor of Viola and doctoral supervisor of Shanghai Conservatory of music, young backbone teacher of Shanghai Conservatory of music, and chief professor of Shangyin King United College. In 2002, he graduated from Shanghai Conservatory of music with a master’s degree in Viola. In recent years, he has been invited to set up professional courses, lectures and master classes at Yang Xiutao School of music of National University of Singapore, Bard University Conservatory of music, China Central Conservatory of music, and music bridge of Royal mountain Conservatory of music in Canada. He was employed as a resident artist (Professor) by Curtis Conservatory of music in 2014-2015 and 2018-2019, and was a guest teacher of the Royal Conservatory of music (RCM) Give.

In recent years, he has won the Shanghai gardener award, He Luting Foundation Award, Shanghai outstanding teacher award for literary and art talents, the first prize of principal award of Shanghai Conservatory of music, Shanghai Tang Junyuan outstanding teacher award, Shanghai Xuhui District Education System “Horse Award”, Shanghai May 1st Labor Medal winner, etc.

The teaching students have won many awards in international competitions in recent years, mainly including the first prize in muravensky International string competition in Russia in 2016, the first place in the 62nd Washington International string competition in April 2015, the third place in the 9th Johansen International string competition in Washington in March 2015, and the young artists selection competition in New York in November 2014 In June 2014, he won the best Concerto performance award in the international Viola competition of primrose, USA; the best student award of the Verbier Festival in Switzerland in July 2013; and Lionel, UK, in March 2013 He won the first prize in the international Viola competition (tertis); the first prize in the music bridge chamber music competition of Royal mountain Conservatory of music in July 2012; the first place in the 8th Johansen International string competition in Washington, USA in March 2012; the best Bach performance award of American primrose international Viola competition in June 2011; In 2009, it won the second place in the 7th Johansen International string competition in Washington, USA; the first place in the national Viola competition in 2007; and the second place in the 6th Johansen International string competition in Washington, USA in 2006.

As the first author, he has published a number of academic papers in important academic journals at home and abroad, including national music, symphony, Yuefu Xinsheng, people’s music and music research. An academic monograph about 300000 words has been published: the art of Viola performance and teaching exploration. A large number of teaching materials have been published, such as: the training repertoire of student Chamber Orchestra and 41 Capriccios for Viola by campanulli. Vanessa Hristova , Bulgarien

Biography 

Bulgarian violist Vanessa Hristova performs internationally as a soloist, chamber musician and principal violist and has appeared at the Royal Albert Hall, Royal Festival Hall, Konzerthaus Berlin, Cadogan Hall, London Coliseum, National Concert Hall Dublin and Bulgaria Hall. Recently she received first prize and the special prize at the XII International Music Competition Dobrich, second prize at the King’s Peak Competition, third prize at the North London Competition D’addario String Prize and was a finalist of the International Anton Rubinstein Viola Competition.

Vanessa has been invited to festivals including Young Euro Classic Berlin, Sofia Music Weeks International Festival, IMS Prussia Cove Open Chamber Music, Budleigh Music Festival, Erben Music Festival, International Music Festival Orpheus Vienna, Festival Academy Budapest, Classic con brio Musikfestival Osnabrück, Varna Summer International Music Festival, Encuentro de Santander and Maiastra. During 2023 she will be a Young Artist of the Stift International Music Festival.

As a soloist she has performed with a number of orchestras and has recitals around Europe. She has collaborated with conductors such as Vladimir Jurowski, Sir Andrew Davis, Vasily Petrenko, Johannes Meissl, Maxim Vengerov, performing as Principal Violist of all the Royal College of Music Orchestras amongst others. She was selected for the English National Opera Evolve Scheme and nominated for the London Symphony Orchestra Strings Experience and the Chamber Orchestra of Europe Academy. In 2021 she recorded a CD in Abbey Road Studios as a lead viola of LGT Young Soloists and was subsequently invited to give a concert with them. Vanessa is passionate about exploring and premiering new pieces, including a Capriccio for solo viola dedicated to her by the Bulgarian composer Roumi Petrova.

As a chamber musician she has toured around Europe with string quartet “Dobri Hristov” and recorded for the Bulgarian National Radio. Recently she recorded Mozart’s Duo for violin and viola in B-flat as part of the award-winning Adeos Duo, which is mentored by the Marmen Quartet and Maxim Rysanov. The Duo regularly performs recitals and concertos with orchestra. Her chamber music coaches also include Adrian Brendel, Andreas Reiner, the Pavel Haas Quartet and the Sacconi Quartet. She recently collaborated and performed with the Quartetto di Cremona.

CONDITIONS AND FAQ
• The Beethoven Concours Nederland is organised online by the Beethoven Conservatorium Venlo.’
• Students and professional musicians of all nations can participate in these competitions with their videos, without any age limit (except for the junior competitions, which are open to children aged 8 to 12 and young people aged 12 to 15).

How do the competitions work?
• There are two rounds: the first round and the final round.
• After the registration deadline, the names of the candidates who participated in the first round will be published on our website on the date specified in the tender.
• The jury will decide on the admission of a maximum of 16 candidates to the final after the first round on the date specified in the tender.

What happens if I am in the final?
• All names and videos of the finalists will be published on our website on the dates specified in the tender.
• The candidates do not have to do anything else. They will be informed by email that they are in the final.
• No new video is required for the final round – the jury’s decision will be based on the material submitted with the entry deadline.

What happens if I am not in the final?
• All candidates in the first round will receive a certificate of participation by email.

What are the prizes?
• The results of the final round will be announced by email to the winners on the date specified in the tender and published on our website and social media channels.
• All winners will receive a certificate documenting the competition prize by e-mail.
• All other finalists will receive a certificate by email stating that they have participated in the final round.

How can I register for the competition?

How should I make the recording?
• The programme can be chosen freely, with a duration of approximately 30 minutes.
Candidates may submit one or more YouTube video links.
• The YouTube video links should be submitted directly at the time of registration but may still be submitted by e-mail up to the registration deadline for the respective competition.
• No new videos will be accepted after the registration deadline.
• The videos will be used for judging in both rounds. Finalists do not have to submit new videos.

What are the legal conditions?
• With their registration, participants allow the organiser to freely dispose of the photo, sound and video recordings submitted to the competition for the purpose of documentation and public relations on its website and social media channels.
• The jury’s decision is final.
