The Staatskapelle Halle, which emerged from the merger of the Philharmonic State Orchestra and the Halle Opera House Orchestra, is the largest orchestra in Saxony-Anhalt with 115 permanent positions. It offers a wide-ranging repertoire in concert, music theater and ballet. Unique in the German music scene is the associated Handel Festival Orchestra, which performs on historical instruments.
