Upon receiving the application, the Slovak State Philharmonic Košice will assess whether the applicant meets the conditions for being invited to the audition and will promptly inform the applicant of its decision.

a) Solo repertoire:
J. S. BACH: Sonatas and Partitas for Solo Violin – Chaconne or one of the fugues
One of the following concertos – exposition of the 1st movement:

  • W. A. MOZART: Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major (KV 216)
    W. A. MOZART: Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major (KV 218)
    W. A. MOZART: Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major (KV 219)

b)

orchestral excerpts – 1st Violin:
STRAUSS: Don Juan, symphonic poem
MOZART: Symphony No. 39 E-flat major – 4th movement
2nd ROUND OF THE AUDITION:
a) Solo repertoire:
One of the following concertos – 1st and 2nd movements including cadenzas:

  • W. A. MOZART: Violin Concerto No. 3 in G Major (KV 216)
    W. A. MOZART: Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major (KV 218)
    W. A. MOZART: Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major (KV 219)

  • Any violin concerto from the Romantic period – complete

b) Orchestral solos – 1st Violin:
RIMSKY-KORSAKOV: Scheherazade
BEETHOVEN: Missa solemnis
DVOŘÁK: Symphony No. 8 – 2nd movement
SUK: Pohádka (Fairy Tale) – 1st movement
c) Orchestral excerpts – 1st Violin:
SMETANA: My Country – Šárka
BRAHMS: Symphony No. 4 – 4th movement
SCHUMANN: Symphony No. 2 – 2nd movement
BEETHOVEN: Symphony No. 9 – 3rd movement
