Nantwen Chamber Music Summer School
A small, friendly and relaxed course for adult amateur string playersof any level.
A maximum of sixteen participants play alongside our excellent tutors in quartets, trios, & quintets.
During the course, you work intensively on a piece with the option to perform it informally on the final morning of our chamber music summer school.
There are two course to choose from, course 1 runs from Thursday the 2nd to Sunday the 5th of August, and course 2 runs from Thursday the 9th to Sunday the 12th of August.
The cost of the course is £400, this includes all tutoring and delicious organic homemade food. Local accommodation can be found nearby.

Young Musicians' Summer Academy
It is the 18th time University of Debrecen Faculty of Music has organized the Young Musicians’ Summer Academy for highschool students, university students and young music teachers. Besides individual mastercourses, orchestral and chamber music workshops contribute to the participiants’ artistic development. The talented young musicians can take part in an orchestral mastercourse with the leadership of Tamás Vásáry pianist and conductor, awarded Kossuth Price and Zoltán Bolyky assistant conductor. Following the rehearsal period the orchestra will go on an international tour.
In addition to the instrumental mastercourses the Summer Academy announces a vocal mastercourse, which one’s main theme is the performing style of vocal music in the 20th-21st century. The final event of the mastercourse will be the Emil Petrovics Vocal Competition.

Unsere Meisterkurse richten sich an Musikstudentinnen und Musikstudenten, Berufsmusikerinnen und Berufsmusiker sowie an hochbegabte Jugendliche. Sämtliche Meisterkurse sind für aktive Teilnehmer und Hospitanten offen. Die Anzahl der aktiven Teilnehmer pro Kurs ist begrenzt, diejenige der Hospitanten ist frei.
Aktive Teilnehmer erarbeiten in mehreren Einheiten Einzelunterricht die von ihnen ausgewählte und vorbereitete Literatur. Dabei steht ihnen ein Korrepetitor zur Verfügung.
Die Unterrichtszeiten werden am ersten Kurstag mit den Dozenten abgesprochen. Aktive Teilnehmer müssen während des gesamten Kurses anwesend sein. Ihnen stehen kostenlos Übungsräume zur Verfügung. Am Ende des Kurses findet ein Schlusskonzert statt.
Hospitanten können allen Veranstaltungen beiwohnen, erhalten selbst aber keinen Unterricht.

Past seasons have welcomed students of exceptional talent, coming from 41 different countries and from all 5 continents. Chamber music has a central role in the course. To this end, all students are automatically enrolled in both the solo instrument category and the chamber music category, save special requests. The following instruments will the mainstay of the course: violin / viola / cello / piano and fortepiano / chamber music ensembles. All registered string players will be allowed to take part in the activities dedicated to the chamber orchestra repertoire, headed by Maestro Jan Bjøranger. The International Kalamata Music Days is a music festival located in Kalamata, Greece, that is consisting of concerts and summer masterclasses.
Our internationally renowned teaching faculty include the violinist Felix Froschhammer, the cellist Indira Rahmatulla and the pianist Alexia Mouza. The masterclasses are open to young musicians (violin, cello and piano) from all around the world, of all ages and in all stages of their musical development.

Participants in the masterclasses are divided into two categories: Active and Observer. There is no limit for observer participants.
Applications for active participants will be accepted in order of application (date of application). Once the limit of active participants will be reached, participants may be asked to audition with a recording. In case of doubt, it will be the teacher to decide whom to accept as an active or observer participant
For those participants who are interested in chamber music activities, we offer the possibility to participate in chamber music ensembles, depending on the level, the availability of other musicians for the ensembles, and in agreement with the teachers.
Teacher will be always assisted by a professional piano accompanist.
At the end of the course, a certificate of participation will be issued for all participants.
Participant who will demonstrate an outstanding preparation will be selected for taking part on the Festival concerts.

Enrolled active participants are entitled to:

- collaboration with the contemporary music laboratory (composition masterclass, depending on the course demands);
- free entrance to all Ticino Musica concerts;
- free use of all studying rooms, instruments and material exclusively and explicitly available to participants;
- free participation in complementary courses;
- free participation as listener to all other courses;
Rights of listener participants:
- listeners are entitled to free entrance to all courses and concerts.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Each year Ticino Musica offers a few scholarships for those students that are in need of a little extra help to be able to participate to the courses. If you believe you are one of these students, please send us a request via e-mail to ticinomusica@bluewin.ch, containing the following information:
- your curriculum vitae (both academic and artistic)
- proof of your financial situations, or the one of your family
- a recording with at least two pieces of a different period
- indication of the amount of money you will be able to put together for the course
LODGING
Lodging in private houses, starting at around CHF 250.- for two weeks (no food included; meal tickets are available as per point 17)
Lodging in students' residence with full board, CHF 850.- (cost for 1-week courses is CHF 450,). Meals included in the agreement: breakfast, lunch and dinner for two weeks (Sundays excluded). Modern rooms (double or single) with WI-FI connection, air conditioning (not all rooms), and shared laundry room. Towels are not included. If you want to confirm the booking of a room, you'll be asked to pay for a deposit of CHF 250.-
Hotel: the organizers will suggest Hotel accommodation corresponding as closely as possible to the requests of the participants. Participants will have to deal with the booking procedures by themselves. Accommodation is possible in the following categories:
A - two/three-star-hotel (CHF 120.-)
B - one/two-star-hotel (CHF 90.-)
C - youth hostel (CHF 50.- limited places)
The prices are approximate, per person, per day, (two- or three-bed rooms). Single rooms, if available, cost about 30-50% more.
Full board service
Meals will be available at the Mensa. Tickets can be bought at the Ticino Musica Office in Lugano at the price of CHF 12.- for lunch and dinner, and CHF 6.- for the breakfast.
Pictures, audio and video
By applying to the masterclasses, the participant authorises the Ticino Musica Festival to make video and/or audio recordings, to take pictures, to transmit by radio or TV broadcast any of his/her lessons, rehearsals, concerts or Opera presentations, organized either by the Ticino Musica Festival or by selected third party organizations or individuals. In particular, the participant surrenders to Ticino Musica all the rights of said video and/or audio recordings and pictures for any use that might be relevant to the Festival. The Festival Ticino Musica reserves the right to use all pictures, audio and video recordings for promotional purposes related to the present edition of the Festival or to future editions, or to release the audio and/or video recordings for demonstrational or promotional purposes.
TERMS & CONDITIONS ACCEPTANCE
Enrolment to the courses implies full acceptance of these terms of participation. In the event of any disputes, the terms of participation in the Italian language shall be legally binding.
Participants waive all rights to initiate legal proceedings against the Festival.

The 3rd International Music Camp will take place in Belgium from July 21 to 27, 2018. It will follow the first edition of the "Ysaye International Music Competition" dedicated to the violin and chamber music. The gala concert of the winners of the competition on Saturday the 21st of July (to which all participants of the Music Camp are invited) will connect both international events.

The Certificate: The Practice of Music Making is a unique one-year distance learning programme developed by Trinity Laban, in partnership with the Open University.
Delivered online with a residential learning week at Trinity Laban in London, CPMM is available as a stand-alone programme, and can also count towards degree study with the Open University.

The course focuses on both the standard repertoire and new music – either contemporary music or forgotten repertoire. All participants can work both on a piece from the standard repertoire as well as a new or little known work.
Participants may suggest the repertoire they want to work on. This 6 day course consists of three basic elements: tuition, practice and performance.
String instrumentalists will each day participate in masterclasses (solo or ensemble), spend time practicing and either perform in a (public) concert or attend a concert.
The course for music students is open to bachelor and master students in performing arts (both major and minor studies), strings and piano.
Both existing ensembles as well as individual musicians wishing to form an ensemble for the week can participate. The various masterclasses will be given by Eeva Koskinen (violin), Katherine Routley (violin), Mikhail Zemtsov (viola), Sebastian Koloski (cello) and Frank Peters (piano).

TSO/OSU Graduate Fellowships in String Orchestral Performance
Oklahoma State University, the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, the Patti Johnson Wilson Foundation, and the OSU Department of Music's String Area announce three graduate fellowships for 2018: one violin, one cello and one bass position.
A two-year program, this fellowship will allow qualified applicants to pursue a graduate degree at OSU while performing as section players with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.
Accepted applicants can expect to receive tuition waivers as well as health benefits while they are enrolled in the program.
Candidates must apply to and be accepted by both the OSU Graduate College and the Department of Music Master of Music program.
The application for admission to the Graduate College must be submitted online.
