The Pacific Region International Summer Music Academy provides two weeks of world-class music education on the beautiful West Coast of Canada, June 11-23.

Mark Morton was principal bass of the Columbus (Ohio) Symphony Orchestra, in which he was a member for 23 years. He is now Associate Professor of Double Bass at Texas Tech University, and principal bass of both the Lubbock Symphony and the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestras.
Since cellist Yegor Dyachkov was proclaimed Artist of the Year by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in 2000, he has performed throughout Europe, Latin America, Asia, Canada and the United States.
Cellist Brian Yoon has been described by the Canadian Broadasting Corporation as “Canada’s next cello superstar”. Currently the Principal Cello of the Victoria Symphony, he has been a guest principal with the National Arts Centre Orchestra.

Intensive music courses are the perfect settings for young people to make effective progress in playing their instrument
This is a small residential course (8-10 trainees) for young string musicians 9 to 16 years old (violinists or cellists) unaccompanied and supervised by our hosts in a family setting in secure surroundings
Every trainee is entitled each day of the course to two sessions of ½ hour one to one instrument tuition as well as two one hour sessions of music ensemble for strings. At least one excursion will be organized during the week
True to our well known LMFL formula it is possible to register for language tuition – EFL for English, FFL for French – as an option .
There are 2 formulas:

The Certificate: The Practice of Music Making is a unique one-year distance learning programme developed by Trinity Laban, in partnership with the Open University.
Delivered online with a residential learning week at Trinity Laban in London, CPMM is available as a stand-alone programme, and can also count towards degree study with the Open University.
The programme is designed for adult instrumentalists and singers who participate in any genre of music and there are no auditions to gain entry. Utrecht String Quartet - Masterclasses for Strings and Piano in Solo and Chamber music
A solo and chamber music course open to both bachelor and master students of music (minor/major).
Both existing ensembles and individual musicians interested in performing in an ensemble for the masterclass are welcome to join.
The course focuses on both the standard repertoire and new music – either contemporary music or forgotten repertoire.
Students will have each day the possibility to participate in masterclasses (solo and/or ensemble), spend time practicing and perform in the final concerts of the masterclass.
The Utrecht String Quartet is ‘Quartet in Residence’ of the Utrecht Conservatory.
They have extensive experience in coaching music students in chamber music.
Pianist Frank Peters is a professor at the Conservatory of Amsterdam and regularly leads workshops and master classes in France, Belgium, Italy, Germanyand China. Frank is member of the Hexagon Ensemble since 2007. He works regularly with internationally rewarded musicians, such as Quatuor Danel, Quatuor Malibran, The Doric String Quartet, Phillippe Grafin, Gérard Caussée, Paavali Jumppanen, Eldar Nebolsin, Mikhail Zemtsov and Oxalys.
The course focuses on both the standard repertoire and new music – either contemporary music or forgotten repertoire. All participants can work both on a piece from the standard repertoire as well as a new or little known work.
Participants may suggest the repertoire they want to work on. This 6 day course consists of three basic elements: tuition, practice and performance.
String instrumentalists will each day participate in masterclasses (solo or ensemble), spend time practicing and either perform in a (public) concert or attend a concert.
The course for music students is open to bachelor and master students in performing arts (both major and minor studies), strings and piano.
Both existing ensembles as well as individual musicians wishing to form an ensemble for the week can participate. The various masterclasses will be given by Eeva Koskinen (violin), Katherine Routley (violin), Mikhail Zemtsov (viola), Sebastian Koloski (cello) and Frank Peters (piano).

TSO/OSU Graduate Fellowships in String Orchestral Performance
Oklahoma State University, the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra, the Patti Johnson Wilson Foundation, and the OSU Department of Music's String Area announce three graduate fellowships for 2018: one violin, one cello and one bass position.
A two-year program, this fellowship will allow qualified applicants to pursue a graduate degree at OSU while performing as section players with the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra.
Accepted applicants can expect to receive tuition waivers as well as health benefits while they are enrolled in the program.
Candidates must apply to and be accepted by both the OSU Graduate College and the Department of Music Master of Music program.
The application for admission to the Graduate College must be submitted online.
