Pietro Trimboli nasce a San Costantino Calabro il 7 maggio 1939. Fin da giovanissimo scopre quella che è una sua naturale predisposizione: lavorare il legno. A soli 9 anni entra nella bottega di un importante ebanista imparando a conoscere la materia e le tecniche d’utilizzo degli attrezzi.

Costruisce mobili in miniatura dimostrando subito una certa abilità, gusto e passione per questo lavoro.
All'età di 15 anni si trasferisce a Bologna dove incontra il Maestro Liutaio Otello Bignami che lo prende subito in simpatia notando già la sua predisposizione e abilità nella lavorazione del legno.
Fin quasi a 25 anni lavora al fianco del Maestro apprendendo tutte le tecniche di costruzione, verniciatura e restauro.
In seguito comincia a lavorare in proprio mantenendo un rapporto affettivo e di stima reciproca con il Maestro.
Nel 1972, all’età di 33 anni partecipa per la prima volta al concorso di liuteria nella città di Bagnacavallo dove i suoi strumenti ricevono l’apprezzamento della giuria ottenendo una medaglia d’argento.
Nel 1976 il Prof. Giuseppe Ferrari, primo violoncello dell’orchestra della RAI di Torino ed amico del grande concertista Mastislav Rostropovich, commissiona a Pietro Trimboli la realizzazione di un violoncello ed in seguito un quartetto.
Nel 1986 la sua dedizione alla liuteria è premiata al concorso nella città di Bagnacavallo dove a Pietro Trimboli viene assegnato il “Violino d’Oro” : si tratta del riconoscimento più alto a cui possa aspirare un liutaio nella sua carriera artistica.
In seguito, Pietro Trimboli continua la sua ricerca per ottenere risultati sonori sempre più soddisfacenti. Con la collaborazione di affermati solisti, perfeziona le forme dei propri strumenti fino a raggiungere una personalizzazione che li rende riconoscibili a vista da parte dei cultori della materia.
La sua vernice è il colore rosso-giallo-bruno. Questo colore rispecchia la tradizione della Scuola Bolognese.
Amplia la sua esperienza artistica costruendo anche sedici contrabbassi. Costruisce questo strumento per importanti musicisti fra i quali nel 1997 il primo contrabbasso dell'orchestra del Teatro Comunale di Bologna che ha sempre riconosciuto a Pietro Trimboli una grandissima capacità acustica.
Per la grande qualità del suono e la facilità d’uso, i suoi strumenti sono stati apprezzati, e sempre più vengono richiesti, da importanti musicisti italiani e stranieri, specie negli Stati Uniti d’America e in Giappone….
Dal 2003 il Quartetto Savinio di Napoli suona con un quartetto Pietro Trimboli ottenendo grandi successi di critica in tutto il mondo.
La conoscenza delle tecniche antiche della liuteria ha fatto di Pietro Trimboli uno dei più apprezzati restauratori di strumenti antichi. Nei restauri eseguiti è stato capace di mantenere le antiche sonorità degli strumenti riuscendo spesso anche a migliorarle.
Il riconoscimento di queste conoscenze e della sua dimostrata esperienza è stato dato a Pietro Trimboli dal Tribunale di Bologna che lo ha annoverato tra i periti accreditati con la qualifica di Perito Esperto di strumenti musicali ed oggetti d’arte. -

He was 9 years old when following one of his natural predispositions he approached the studio of an important cabinet-maker where he gets acquainted with the wood, and learn all the techniques of the use of the tools.
At the beginning he builds furniture in miniature, already demonstrating a great ability, taste and passion for this job.
At the age of 15 he moves to Bologna where meets the Master violin-maker Otello Bignami, who directly notes his predisposition and ability in the woodworking.
He works with the Master until the age of 25, learning all the techniques of construction, painting and restoration.
Later on, he starts working independently maintaining a very close and affective relationship with the Master.
In 1972, at the age of 33 years, Pietro Trimboli participates for the first time at the violin making competition in the city of Bagnacavallo where his instruments receive the appreciation of the jury obtaining a silver medal.
In 1976 Professor Giuseppe Ferrari, first cellist of the RAI-orchestra of Turin and friend of the great concert musician Mastislav Rostropovich, commissions to Pietro Trimboli the realization of a cello first and a quartet then.
In 1986 his dedication to the art of making stringed instruments is rewarded by the competition in the city of Bagnacavallo where to Pietro Trimboli the "Violino d’oro" is assigned: is the highest acknowledgement to which a violin maker may aspire during his artistic career.
Later on, Pietro Trimboli continues his search with the aim to obtain sonorous results more and more satisfactory. With the collaboration of asserted soloists, he perfects the shapes of his instruments until achieving a personalization that renders them recognizable at a first view by the experts.
His varnish has the colours red-yellow-brown. This colour reflects the tradition of the “Scuola Bolognese”.
He wants to widen his artistic experience and builds also sixteen double-basses. He builds this instrument for important musicians among which in 1997 the first double-bass player in the orchestra of the Communal Theatre of Bologna who always has recognized to Pietro Trimboli a great acoustic capacity.
For the high quality of the sound and the facility of use his instruments are very much appreciated and more and more requested by important italian and foreign musicians, especially in the United States of America and in Japan….
From 2003 the Quartetto Savinio of Napoli plays a set of instruments made by Pietro Trimboli obtaining great criticism successes in all the world.
Due to the knowledge of the ancient violin making techniques Pietro Trimboli became one of most appreciated restorers of ancient instruments. In the executed restorations he has been able to maintain the ancient sonority of the instruments often being able also to improve it.
The acknowledgment of these acquaintances was given to Pietro Trimboli from the Court of Bologna, by numbering him between the experts and accrediting him the qualification of Expert of musical instruments and objects of art.
